The first step to creating a fantastic layout is picking the right CEWE PHOTOBOOK for the job. After all, your photo book is your work space and the size and shape of your work space will largely dictate what layout works best. With seven different CEWE PHOTOBOOKS to choose from you’re certainly spoilt for choice, but the main thing to consider is what page space you have when the books are open. With this in mind the books fall in to three main categories: landscape, portrait and square. Of course when you start to take double page spreads into account there’s a lot of cross over – but we’ll come back to that later!
So which shape is for you?
If you’ve got lots of great photos of landscape scenes that you’d like to really show off then going for a landscape book will let you create amazing double page spreads. Got more of a mix of both landscape and portrait shots? Then going for a square page photo book gives you the best of both worlds; with a single page you’ve got the perfect space for a portrait pic and background, with a double page you’ve got all the room you need for your landscape snaps. And the portrait books? Well these guys are perfect for when you want to get multiple landscape shots on one page or large scale portrait photos (of course!).

Making your layout
If you’re planning on showing off your landscape snaps then nothing can beat using them as double page backgrounds on a landscape photobook. But why stop there? You can add something extra to your vista by adding a colour strip to the side (as in the example above). Simply create a text box, give it a complimentary background colour and position it to suit. With this strip you can add your own text or you can add on top a few additional snaps to compliment your main photo. This works especially well if you have a few different views or takes of the same moment.

When using multiple images on a portrait page there are lots of ways to make your layout more interesting than the standard list style. A simple way to jazz up this layout is to stagger each of the images, for example moving each one a cm further to the right than the one above. This can be done easily and accurately by using the “Frame Positioning” tool To open it, simply right click on the image you want to move and select it from the menu that appears. Within the Frame Positioning tool there are tons of options to position, rotate, scale and enlarge your selected image with millimetre level precision.
This is only scratching the surface on what the Frame Positioning tool can do, we’ll explore its other great uses in future tips.
Saving your layouts
Once you’ve created a photo book layout that you like don’t forget to save it! All you need to is highlight any element on your page and click on the Save Layout button. From now on you can just select your saved layout from the layout menu. This means you can easily add your new layout to any new pages!
